I get asked quite often what my opinions are on certain brands of plastic cement. Whilst I do tend to talk about the glues or cements I use during any particular build video, I realised that I didn't have a stand-alone video where I discuss my current experiences and favourite brands! So here it is! Join me in this video as I talk about my experiences with model plastic cement, discussing the different brands I've used, highlighting what I think are the strengths and weaknessess of each of them. Whilst I haven't used that many brands so far, I do primarily talk about Humbrol, Tamiya and Revell. I also give examples of some of the plastic model kits that I have painted with these specific cements - including my first kit the Airfix Hawker Hurricane and a few others yet to be featured . . . In this quick tutorial I’ll show you my tried and tested method of making your own scenic glue. I’ve been using this method of making glue for a very long time and I’ve found that it gives me the best results when compared to other homemade scenic glue. All of my previous scenery dioramas and model railroad videos use this method for glue application. It’s strong and durable and most of all easy to make and cheap compared to other glues. You can also apply the same ratios used in the video to almost all the other types of glue to make scenic glue, prior to using Mod Podge I used PVA glue and Matte Medium. For fixing model train and scenery for dioramas this glue is my number one pick. For more information be sure to check out 🤍 where I post much more news and information. I’m also setting up a Patreon page where viewers can donate to my channel and help me produce these videos, I will continue to make these free tutorials but for those who help me out by donating I will have a few little extras for you to check out via my website. As they say, there's the right tool for the right job, and in the case of plastic model cement, there will be the right cement or glue for any surface! Sometimes I get asked if super glue can be used to build models, and normally I just dismiss it and suggest a "proper" poly cement be used. Join me in this video as I see if it is possible to build a model kit using only super glue - that's the one and only rule!
