Shimano's GRX groupset is finally here! Shimano is the first drivetrain manufacturer to bring a dedicated gravel/adventure groupset to market. Announced earlier this year, GRX is available at Tiagra (RX400, 105 (RX600), and Ultegra (RX800) levels, with the last of those including Di2 options. Shimano says it’s been working with others to ensure that the drivetrain delivers for gravel riders, including Garmin (for navigation that integrates with Di2 levers), and the Shimano Gravel Alliance — a group of 16 riders that reported back on products and put forward ideas. Shimano GRX Shifting System [On Gravelbike] Close up!
Brand new bike after waiting almost 1year to arrive and problems. Bottom plastic piece in the direction tube keeps rubbing on the frame and damaging the paint job. Rubber band in the base on that piece rolls up leaving the bearing exposed to dirt on a gravel bike. Looks like a poor build up and calling for problems in the short term. Shimano GRX RD-RX815 11-34T perfectly adjusted but just 180º of pedaling backwards on one of the 2 largest gears and the chain falls down seriously collapsing the gears. Chain is rolling noisy with resistance in the extreme lower and upper gears. B screw is well adjusted by 2 different workshops and they cannot do any better. I do not find it safe to ride this bike with problems in any technical gravel terrain or singletracks. Left shifter GRX cannot be upgraded with Classified system installed by Ridley as E-Tube does not detect it. A shift button in the left lever is also cancelled. Lots of noise and friction in the transmission despite using top lucricants. Very dissappointed. Waiting for a solution from Ridley. .... 2weeks later .... I got respond from Ridley through the dealer: "Bottom plastic piece in the direction tube keeps rubbing on the frame and damaging the paint job" Ridley says they will send a new plastic piece and a DIY repair paint kit. WTF? a DIY repair paint kit? That´s very cheap from Ridley, don´t you think? I thought I was buying the top of the range bike from a reliable bike brand company. Besides that is exactly the problem too much paint on the frame causing to rub on the bottom direction plastic piece, in my opinion. Very dissapointed with Ridley !!! I have other bikes like Cannondale and Canyon and they always responded satisfactory to the problems. Cannondale even replaced a Scalpel frame for a complete new one due to damage in the paint job. Had issues with a bended front brake disc with my Canyon Endurace SLX and they sent new disc rotor free of charge. .... Classified customer service responded very fast and gave good advice but still didn´t find a solution to the excessive friction problem. 2 months later: This is a Frankenstein bike. Do not buy ! Had to replace Shimano chain, Rotor bottom bearings and chainring. All components prematurely wear off after only 1000K.m. Never seen before, not even on e-bikes my workshop said. Cost me another €200 + workshop labour. Very unefficient bike and very expensive to maintain. Do not buy bikes from small brands like Ridley. Radio silence from them so far on this.
