Let’s take a closer look at the Climate screen … The Auto Defogging System operates by default when the heater or air conditioning is ON, when you press the Front Defrost button. If you don’t see the “AUTO” icon, that means the system is off. Now, it’s important to understand that there is a difference between the Auto function of the climate control system, and the Auto Defogging System. With auto climate control, the system automatically maintains cabin temperature; but with the Auto Defogging System, the system automatically senses moisture on the inside of the windshield, and then triggers an automatic defogging sequence that consists of four stages depending on the amount of moisture detected. So, they are related, but separate systems. And while sometimes the system seems to have a mind of its own it’s all about clearing your line of sight as quickly as possible and it breaks down like this …
